French Periods Rococo Style

The Rococo style began in 1730-1760. Reign of Louis XV was considered to be disastrous because of wars, the colonial struggles with England, the loss of Canada and India, and the system of taxation for the middle class.
The historical setting of this style is considered the rise of the common folk and the French philosophers, economists, scientists criticized the government. During this time, painting, architecture and sculpture form a single ensemble. The shift from palaces and chateaux to city mansions and townhouses was a big change in building places. This was the start of a more private and comfortable living. These buildings made up of every type of room there is today besides the bathroom. The interiors were smaller and better heated and the ceilings were lower. The colors of the interiors were light, clear, and fresh including blue, rose, sea green with gold. The fireplaces had a low mantle with a mirror above it. The most celebrated cabinet maker was Jean Francois Oeben and he created the Bureau du Roi.
The furniture was placed away from the walls and popular chair from this time is called the tete-a-tete chair.

Below is a video describing the Rococo style and provides several pictures.

Peer review:
Micah had a good layout on the French Renaissance and gave a lot of helpful information on different types of buildings during this time. I also thought she provided plenty of pictures and an informational video regarding the Chateau de Chambord.

Sammy also did her blog on the French Renaissance and I thought she provided us with helpful information on the transition of styles and showed some good examples of current applications.
